J.E.P. Buchanan named FirstBank market president in Huntsville

FirstBank has named John Edward Propst “J.E.P.” Buchanan as market president in Huntsville. Buchanan has lifelong ties to Huntsville, as well as more than 35 years of industry experience.

“His (Buchanan’s) deep understanding of this market and commitment to the Huntsville community align perfectly with our people-first business model, and I am confident he will strengthen our teams and drive long-term growth,” said Grant Lauderdale, senior vice president and head of metro banking for FirstBank.

Buchanan has held numerous leadership roles in banking, including as chief credit officer, senior lender and market president. Prior to FirstBank, Buchanan was part of the original team of bankers that founded Progress Bank in 2007, which was later acquired by United Community Bank.

“Building strong, lasting relationships with customers is what I’m most passionate about, and I’m excited to begin this next chapter at FirstBank,” said Buchanan.
