$45 million in GOMESA grants will fund coastal projects
More than $45 million in funds from the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act of 2006 (GOMESA) will fund 23 projects on the Gulf Coast. The projects include $2 million for a Creola public safety building, $1.5 million for an expansion of Foley nature parks and $2.5 million for the Baldwin County Perdido Bay Boardwalk and ADA improvements. – Alabama Political Reporter

Huntsville banker Ron Poteat has been named interim CEO of Downtown Huntsville Inc. Poteat had a 42-year career at Regions Bank, serving as North Alabama’s area president, and he’ll begin his new position at the nonprofit that advocates for Huntsville’s downtown area on Oct. 1. – News 19
Birmingham tower will house new event venue
The Thomas Jefferson Tower in Birmingham will soon be home to a new event and dining venue. Velvet & Vine will open in the building sometime this fall, featuring a ballroom, bar, bistro and outdoor terrace overlooking the city. – AL.com
