Hueytown nature preserve will open in 2026
A 400-acre nature preserve in western Jefferson County with hiking and biking trails and mountaintop views will open in the first quarter of 2026. The West Rock Mountain Nature Preserve in Hueytown will be on part of an 840-acre property acquired from the University of Alabama. – Bham Now

Hoover seeking operator for surgical center
The city of Hoover has until Nov. 3 to find an operator for an ambulatory surgical center at Riverwalk Village. Riverwalk Village is a mixed-use development on 90 acres. Work began on homes there earlier this year. If an operator isn’t found for the surgical center by Nov. 3, the city must reapply for a certificate of need. – AL.com
