Mobile’s new airport terminal is now slated to open in the fall of 2026 with the first flight anticipated in November of 2026.
The terminal opening will mark the transition of commercial flights from Mobile Regional Airport (MOB) on the city’s far west side to the Mobile International Airport (BFM) at the Brookley Aeroplex. The new airport is much closer to downtown and to the intersection of interstates 10 and 65.
The terminal is still expected to be completed within the anticipated budget of $381 million.

”We were pushing, all along, a really aggressive timeline,” said Mobile Airport Authority Chairman Luckett Robinson. “We had to decide whether being on budget or being time was more important. The mayor and I agreed that completing it on budget was the biggest priority.”
Supporting infrastructure, including a 1,250-space parking garage and elevated roadway, should be finished by March of 2026, airport officials say.
When it opens, the terminal will have five gates, with the ability to expand to 12. Delta, United and American Airlines all plan to transition their operations from the old facility to the new one.
