Mercedes adding GLC SUV production to Vance
Mercedes-Benz said Monday the new vehicle it will be producing at its plant in Alabama will be its GLC SUV. The GLC is also built at Mercedes’ plant in Bremen, Germany. Production of the vehicle in Tuscaloosa County will begin in 2027. – Reuters
Layoffs reported, but Theodore plant expansion is still a go
Evonik’s planned $177 million expansion in Theodore is still in progress, even as a notice says 143 workers were laid off at the site beginning in April. The layoff notice was filed by the project’s contractor Bilfinger with the Alabama Department of Commerce. Evonik confirmed it recently ended a contract at the site. – AL.com
Oracle plans to lay off 65 in Montgomery
Oracle America Inc. has filed a notice with the Alabama Department of Commerce that it will lay off 65 employees in Montgomery. The layoffs will occur starting on June 30. – Made in Alabama
Women’s Foundation has new CEO
Kimberly L. Jackson has been named the Women’s Foundation of Alabama’s new president and CEO. She most recently served as government and community relations manager for the Birmingham division of Alabama Power.
