Russ Kolmin has been promoted to senior vice president, chief product officer at Protective Life Corp., a subsidiary of Dai-ichi Life Holdings Inc.
As chief product officer, Kolmin will be responsible for overseeing product development for the company’s life insurance business line, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements while driving growth and profitability.

Kolmin joined Protective in 2014 as a pricing actuary. He quickly advanced, becoming vice president, corporate actuary in 2022, where he led corporate transaction valuations and conducted due diligence on key actuarial topics throughout the acquisition process. He played pivotal roles in Protective’s ShelterPoint acquisition and the $9.7 billion strategic reinsurance agreement with Resolution Life announced earlier this year.
Kolmin began his career at State Farm before joining Protective. He earned his Fellow of the Society of Actuaries designation in 2014 and has remained an active member through the Society of Actuaries.
