Michelle Robinson, senior associate dean at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry and interim dean of the School of Education, has been appointed to the National Institute of Health’s Advisory Committee for Research on Women’s Health.
As a member of the advisory committee, she will work to improve health for women and their families and advise on gender-based health disparities.
Established in 1990, the Office of Research on Women’s Health is the first public health service office dedicated specifically to promoting women’s health research within and beyond the NIH scientific community. It works to craft and implement a strategic plan in partnership with NIH institutes and centers, co-funds research on the role of sex and gender on health, and ensures that women and minorities are represented in NIH-supported clinical research.
