Sears is closing more than 100 of its Hometown stores around the country, including six in Alabama. The locations affected in Alabama are Andalusia, Selma, Oneonta, Jackson, Enterprise and Foley. Liquidation sales are being carried out now. – Bama Buzz

 

Venerable mattress company to shutter

The Ensley Fairfield Mattress Co. is closing after more than 107 years in business. The company, which opened in Ensley, now operates out of Pelham. The company will close in January.   – AL.com

Homewood Gourmet relocating to larger location

Birmingham’s popular Homewood Gourmet is changing locations, expanding its space by moving to Homewood’s 18th Place South. Franklin Biggs opened the restaurant in 1998, and he sold it to Chris and Laura Zapalowski 15 years ago.  – Bham Now
