Jimmy Rane, who lives in Abbeville, and Jimmy Buffett, who spent part of his childhood in South Alabama and attended Auburn University, are both on Forbes magazine’s list of the world’s billionaires.
Rane, founder and CEO of Great Southern Wood Preserving in Abbeville, ranks 2,259th on the list with a net worth of $1.2 billion, and Buffett, a singer and songwriter, ranks 2,540th with $1 billion.
According to Forbes, the world’s 2,640 billionaires are worth $12.2 trillion. The five richest people in the world, according to Forbes, are Bernard Arnault and family ($211 billion), Elon Musk ($180 billion), Jeff Bezos ($114 billion), Larry Ellison ($107 billion) and Warren Buffett ($106 billion).
