The Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) honored nine recipients in its third annual Fortified Home Volume Awards. The homebuilders honored were D.R. Horton Inc. of Mobile, Truland Homes of Daphne, Ben Murphy Co. of Foley, DSLD Homes of Daphne and Foster Contracting of Mobile. The home evaluators honored were Bethel Engineering Inc. of Mobile, Knockout Home Inspections of Fairhope, Disaster Smart Consulting Inc. of Cantonment, Florida and Gulf Coast Home Inspections Inc. of Fairhope.

Adams and Reese is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its HUGS (Hope, Understanding, Giving and Support) program across its offices.

Road & Rail Services Inc. has received the Highest Quality Review Score for Origin Facilities from the Association of American Railroads. The company’s Talladega team is the recipient of the award in consecutive years, the only location to ever do so, with an aggregate scoring of 99.03 percent in 2018 and 99.72 percent in 2017.

A collaborative project between Snead State Community College and Jacksonville State University has received national recognition in the Faculty Development category for the 2018 National CyberWatch Center Innovations in Cyber Security Education program. The project is to develop eight cyber labs for workshop participants to integrate into their classroom curriculum for penetration testing on industrial control systems.

Teledyne Brown Engineering, of Huntsville, is celebrating its 65th anniversary. The company has supported every major U.S. space initiative, beginning with the Jupiter-C and extending through the Space Launch System. The company is currently building the Launch Vehicle Stage Adapter, the largest part of the rocket to be built at Marshall Space Flight Center.

Thompson Engineering of Mobile is celebrating its 65th anniversary. Since 1953, the employee-owned company has helped shape some of the Southeast’s skylines and coastlines through its projects, among them the Mobile River Bridge & Bayway project and several coastal restoration projects that have resulted in creating or restoring more than 71,000 linear feet of shoreline.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham has, to date, the nation’s longest ongoing single-center paired kidney transplant chain, at 101 recipients. In addition, UAB’s online master of arts in applied sociology program has been ranked no. 1 by for its academic quality and affordability.

The State of Alabama has been recognized for its fourth-largest increase in Free Application for Federal Student Aid completions by the National College Access Network’s #FormYourFuture FAFSA Tracker.

Baker Donelson was named to the Best Law Firms for Women listing by Working Mother magazine.

Faulkner University was recently ranked top in the state and eighth nationally for having the most affordable forensic psychology program by Best Value Schools.
