The Coosa-Alabama River Improvement Association is celebrating its 128th year. The not-for-profit organization promotes multipurpose use of waterways while protecting the ecological health of the river basins of the Alabama, Coosa and Tallapoosa.

Adtran Inc. has been recognized by the Muse Creative Awards and American Advertising Federation with 19 creative awards. Adtran won for several video advertisements, multiple events, sales and marketing materials, as well as a public service campaign.

Alabama Woodworkers Guild is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The organization has 300 members and is the third largest woodworking organization in the country.

ARC Realty, of Cahaba Heights, has been named to the Swanepoel Top 1000 Brokerages List, ranked at no. 476.

Argent Financial Group, with offices in Mobile and Homewood, was named a Stevie Award winner for Company of the Year in the 16th annual American Business Awards.

Big Communications has received a One Merit award from The One Club for Creativity for cinematography in the Valvoline “Never Idle” video. The One Club for Creativity is a nonprofit recognizing creative excellence in advertising and design.

Butler Snow LLP has been ranked fifth in the Top 10 Private Bond Counsel Firms nationally by Thomson Reuters. In addition, the firm was named a runner-up for International Law Firm of the Year-USA in Citywealth magazine’s 2018 Magic Circle Awards.

Columbia Southern University, in Orange Beach, was ranked second among the most affordable military-friendly online schools for 2018 by SR Education Group.

Faulkner University has been ranked sixth for the 2018 Best Online Master’s in Ministry Programs, according to The Best Schools, an educational research publisher.

Gulf Shores and Orange Beach have been named two of the most popular destinations on Tripping.com’s Summer 2018 Vacation Report. Gulf shores came in at no. 6 and Orange Beach at no. 11 on the top 25 listing.

Knight Eady, a Birmingham-based sports marketing and event management firm, has been named one of Inc. magazine’s Best Workplaces for 2018.

The SSI Group, of Mobile, has been certified by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Division of National Standards within the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for its completion of HHS Optimization Program Pilot of Administrative Simplification transaction standards.

Teledyne Brown Engineering, of Huntsville, was recognized as Large Business Subcontractor of the Year by Bechtel for work on projects for Bechtel’s Nuclear, Security & Environmental global business unit.

UAB Hospital has been named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s 2018 list of 100 Great Hospitals in America. In addition, the hospital has performed more than 10, 000 robotic surgeries. Also, the hospital is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first transplant performed by UAB surgeons at Birmingham VA Hospital in 1968. It was the first transplant in the state.

The University of North Alabama is one of three finalists for the 2018 Excellence in Innovation Award presented by the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi.

Wallace State Community College students had a record 31 first-place finishes in the SkillsUSA competition. In addition, students took home 12 second place and third place honors, as well as the highest participation award and the highest membership award.

Wilkins Miller LLC, an accounting firm in Mobile and Fairhope, was one of two companies to receive the 2017 Alabama Performance Excellence Award, presented by the Alabama Performance Excellence Program through its affiliation with UAB’s School of Health Professions, Collat School of Business and School of Engineering.
